BLOOM: FOR TEEN’S AND THEIR SUPPORTERS

A Workshop for Teen Growth and self-development.

B L O O M - a three-part workshop to support your teen’s growth and self-development and empower them to thrive for Teens and their supporters communities coming together with one mission: When we take care of ourselves, we take care of our business.

The words that make the rose bloom were also said to me.

The words told to the cypress to make it grow strong and straight.

The instructions whispered to the jasmine.

And whatever was said to the sugarcane to make it sweet.

And to the pomegranate flowers to make them blush.

The same thing is being said to me.

― Rumi

Being a Teenager can be just as challenging as being a parent to a teenager.

The teenage years are a complex period of growth, filled with rapid physical, emotional, and mental changes. Parents and supporters of teens know that these years bring with them beautiful changes as well as some of the most heightened emotions, at home, at school, and in navigating life. Understanding how a teenage brain works and develops is as important as finding compassion and communication strategies for teens with their families and peers.

There are many ways to support young people and help them to find their authentic self, while understanding what it means to have healthy boundaries is crucial for the well-being of everyone. Communication is an important part of the relationship between a caregiver and their young person. It is about creating an environment where teens feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions. Spending quality time with teens, although sometimes challenging for both sides, strengthens bonds and provides  a sense of belonging and support.  Furthermore, understanding the psychological and physical changes teens undergo can help caregivers navigate this phase with more empathy. While recognizing that mood swings, search for identity, and desire for independence are normal, patience and a non-confrontational approach can make a significant difference in guiding them through these changes.

Encouraging teens to explore and pursue their unique passions fosters self-esteem and a sense of purpose. Whether it's sports, arts, music, or discovering a new skill, showing genuine interest and support in their activities can boost their confidence and motivation. Preparing teens for adulthood involves more than academic success. It's about teaching life skills, such as financial literacy, time management, and authentic decision-making. As many experienced youth-focused professionals will concur, encouraging self-reliance and providing guidance in exploring career options and future goals in a safe space to fail forward, make mistakes and learn from them, provides a safety net of support and a toolkit for self-reliance and resilience in adulthood.

Navigating the teen years requires patience, understanding, and open communication. By addressing these key areas, caregivers can help teens grow into well-rounded, confident adults ready to face the world. Every teen's journey is unique, and being there for them is what matters most.

With empathy and a deep understanding of the rollercoaster that is being a teen, or a carer of teens, El Living has partnered with professionals whose work is focused on lending tailored guidance and support to grow and support both caregivers and their young person.

Bloom offers our community shared space, where the complex challenges that kids grow up with these days will be addressed. We want to promote a healthy set of personal values, and an empowered body image as well as build confidence to surround themselves with peers who respect their values.

The mini-series is an opportunity to spend quality time and build the foundation for healthy relationships while promoting emotional and physical well-being. The tools that are shared, as well as the moments of connection participants will have during these sessions and using the family activities in between, will have a profound impact on their lives, gifting their young person the ability to make their own decisions, manage challenges, and continue on their path to a fulfilling adulthood, where they will BLOOM.
